      Hi everyone,

I’m thinking about taking on the Midnight Sun Randonnee and wondered if anyone here has first-hand experience with it. I’ve done plenty of long-distance rides, but this one looks unique — the combination of constant daylight, remote stretches, and rapidly changing weather seems like it could make the ride both amazing and unpredictable.

If you’ve completed it (or attempted it!), I’d love to hear:

How did you find the terrain and road surfaces?

Any sections that were unexpectedly tough or surprisingly easy?

What was the weather really like at that time of year — did you need full cold-weather gear, or was it mild enough to pack lighter?

How did you manage sleep with 24-hour daylight?

      Any must-have kit you’d recommend?

What about logistics such as food stops, accommodation, or dealing with wildlife in remote areas?

And of course, any lessons learned or “wish I’d known this before I started” tips.

I came across a detailed guide that covers the basics, including route overview, clothing suggestions and practical considerations, but I’d still really value hearing the personal experiences and advice of people who’ve actually ridden it. For anyone interested, here’s the guide:

The Midnight Sun Randonnée: an insider’s guide to cycling across Scandinavia

Really appreciate any insights you’re willing to share. This ride looks incredible, but the better prepared I am, the more I’ll enjoy it — and the fewer surprises I’ll have to deal with at 3 a.m. in broad daylight!

      Thanks in advance!
