Week 32 Update of the Cycling Monks Strava Group. Week ending 10th January 2021.
Club Stats. 699 members collectively rode 58506 km in 1470 rides, climbing 293700 metres in 2761 hours!
The number of members are up by 10 as compared to last week. The week saw everyone collectively ride more with total distance, elevation gained and time spent on the saddle were all up.
To be in the top 100, you needed to ride minimum 199 km during the week!
There were 2 riders who rode more than 1000 km in the week and 5 who rode more than 100 a day!
4 people did 600+ km rides. 21 people did at least 200 km rides. 64 riders rode at least a century!
4 averaged above 30 kmph for the week. 7 climbed more than 4000 metres… Incredible riding by everyone.

Cycling in the Kochi Metro
In a boost to cycle commuters, Kochi Metro recently allowed cycles to be carried in the metro trains.
Our friend from Kochi, Adhil Muhammed, used the services after his 200 km BRM and he writes:Entering Kochi Metro by cycle is as usual as we travel in the metro alone. The main disadvantage is only 4 cycles are allowed in a single train.
While we are travelling as groups it will be hard. While accessing stations use entry gates which are wider than usual. The staff is very friendly and they will guide you.
We stood with our bikes all along the journey for the safety of other travellers.
Kochi Metro is not asking for additional payment for the bike. Everyone in the city can use the metro while commuting and it’s fun. Nowadays it’s very popular. Thanks to Kochi Metro for this change🙏.

Third spot is taken by Srinath Kareti from Tamil Nadu. He rode 992 km. He was third last week as well.

The women’s leaderboard is getting more competitive every week. Women from Maharashtra are the strongest in the country it seems.
Pradnya Ajagar from Maharashtra was top of the charts this week. Riding an massive 371 km. She is 27th overall and was 1st last week as well. Third week on the trot she has been at the top.
Next up is Lorraine D’Costa from Kerala. Who rode an impressive 349 km. She is 32nd overall.
Third is Rajlaxmi Teli from Maharashtra who rode 311 km. She is 39th overall.

Leaderboard: Longest Ride
The top 6 all did 200+ km rides.
Top spot goes to Balraj Singh Chauhan from Punjab for the longest ride. He did a 610 km long ride!
Next up is Om Hitendra Mahajan from Maharashtra having done a 306 km long ride.
Third is Ratan Rangpee from Assam, who did a 234 km long ride.

The top 3 have been riding at a seriously impressive pace while clocking incredible mileage. The top 2 riding at 36+ kmph.
Fastest of the lot is Aditya Malhotra from Delhi who averaged an incredible 36.5 kmph over the week! That is FAST considering he rode 360 km as well. He was 3rd last week.
Second fastest for the week is Satvik Gupta from Haryana whose weekly average is an incredible 36.3 kmph. He was fastest last week.
Third is Ronald Rathore from Gujarat averaging 31.8 kmph over the week. A new entrant to the leaderboard.

The Nilgiris and the Himalayas have been dethroned in the climbing category this week by Assam!
Climber of the week is Ripunjay Gogoi from Assam having climbed 6404 metres. That is an incredible amount of climbing.
Second is Imaad Sait from Tamil Nadu who climbed 6124 metres.
Third is Om Hitendra Mahajan from Maharashtra, who climbed 5398 metres during the week.
