The Bergamont Helix 3.5i Owner Review by Vidhi Bhanushali after riding the bike 4500 km over a year in Mumbai…

The Bergamont Helix 3.5i is a hybrid from the German brand, which is now owned and distributed by Scott Sports in India. This hybrid comes with mechanical disc brakes and a suspension fork.

      Bergamont Helix 3.5i Ownership Review

      Name: Vidhi Bhanushali

      No. of years cycling: 1

      Model Name: Bergamont Helix 3.5i

      Bought On: August 2019

Place of Purchase: The Cycle Worx, Wadala, Mumbai

Approx. no. of kilometres clocked so far: 4400 km

Buying Experience: Great guidance received for purchase of the bike and accessories. Test ride also possible before purchase.

Other models considered at time of purchase: Montra Blues 1.2 Disc (NEW)

Reason for choosing this model: Bergamont is a trusted German brand offering good quality components while still remaining within budget.

Positives of this bike: Lightweight frame, good quality Shimano derailleurs and shifters. The cassette is really good even for the steepest climbs for an experienced rider. One can easily achieve speeds between 25-30 kmph over long distances on flat roads. The disc brakes are very effective and reduce the force required to pull the brake levers leading to lesser fatigue on longer descents.

Negatives of this bike: Front suspension is not lockable and the stock saddle is not shaped well reducing the overall comfort.

Will you recommend this bike and why?: I would recommend this bike to riders having some basic riding experience on an MTB or hybrid, and are looking to upgrade to a better hybrid bike for increasing their riding distance and speed. My longest ride on this bike so far is 230 km.
