A new plan has been initiated for a 250 metre outdoor velodrome in Kolkata to be built at the cost of Rs 12.2 crore to help grow the sport…
Image for Representational Purpose. Source: Pixabay A plan has been drafted to build an outdoor velodrome in New Town. With the growing popularity of the sport in the country and some incredibly talented young track stars, this idea was mooted.
This 250 metre track will share facilities with the adjoining football stadium and an upcoming skate park.
The Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO), is currently looking to engage an agency for constructing this track in New Town Action Area II. Which is to be the first in the state of West Bengal.
The velodrome will be built within 12 months of commencement of work on the same.
New Town has already been in the news for developing cycling infrastructure and adding to the green cause.
