      You need to lube the chain every time you degrease it.

      You need to clean and degrease the chain as often as required.

      Which depends on what kind of lube you use? Some lubes pick up more dirt than others.

      It depends on the conditions you ride in? Riding in the monsoons or off-road will require more regular cleaning and lubrication.

      The best way is to keep an eye on the drivetrain and clean it as and when it looks dirty.

      If your chain is slightly dirty and dry and you are unable to clean it. Then at the very least lube it before heading out for a ride.

        Week 74 update of the Cycling Monks Strava Group. Week ending 31st October 2021.

        Club Stats. 1496 members collectively rode 86850 km in 2571 rides, climbing 436733 metres in 4035 hours!

        The number of members are up by 17 as compared to last week. The week saw everyone collectively ride more. With total distance, elevation gained and time spent on the saddle were all up.

        To be in the top 100, you needed to ride minimum 239 km during the week!

        There were 3 who averaged more than 100 km a day!

        3 rode 600s, 20 rode a 200 and 100 rode at least a century!

        43 averaged above 30 kmph for the week. 4 climbed more than 4000 metres… Incredible riding by everyone.

        Kudos to all the riders who have been working hard on their saddles…

        Leaderboard: Overall

        3 riders averaged more than 100 km a day.

        Shun Athi from Tamil Nadu was top of the charts. He rode an incredible 853 km. He was second last week.

        In second place is Varsha Gaikwad from Maharashtra who rode 808 km in the week.

        Third spot is taken by Mangesh Dongare  from Maharashtra. He rode 806 km.

        Leaderboard: Women

        The women’s leaderboard has gotten more competitive. The ladies have upped their game! To be in the top 10, you needed to ride at least 190+ km…

        Varsha Gaikwad from Maharashtra was top of the charts this week. Riding an incredible 808 km. She is 2nd overall. She is currently riding from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and was top lady last week as well.

        Next up is Shirin Kekre from Maharashtra. Who rode an impressive 402 km. She is 26th overall.

        Third is Naazia Farhein from Tamil Nadu who rode 367 km. She is 38th overall.

        There are 5 women in the top 100 this week, 3 less than last week.

        Leaderboard: Longest Ride

        The monsoon and opening up of lockdowns ensured that long rides once again kicked started this week! Brevet season is back…

        Top spot goes to Kunj Lalkiya from Gujarat for the longest ride. He did a 610 km long ride!

        Next up is Sauravpreet Singh from Punjab having done a 607 km long ride.

        Third is Gaurav Sihag from Punjab, who did a 602 km long ride.

        Leaderboard: Fastest

        The top 43 have been riding at a seriously impressive pace.

        Fastest of the lot is Mayank Tripathi from Canada who averaged an incredible 39.9 kmph over the week! He was first last two weeks.

        Second fastest for the week is Ravishankar Nateswaram from Tamil Nadu whose weekly average is a fantastic 39.3 kmph.

        Third is Sushobhit from Haryana averaging 37.3 kmph over the week.

        Leaderboard: Queen/ King of the Mountain

        Maharashtra usurped the crown from the Himalayas this week. Again and how!

        Climber of the week is Ujjwal Singh Negi from Himachal Pradesh having climbed 7087 metres.

        Second is Utkarsh Verma from Uttar Pradesh who climbed 6500 metres.

        Third is Anil Gurung from Uttarakhand, who climbed 4491 metres during the week.
