Week 48 update of the Cycling Monks Strava Group. Week ending 2nd May 2021.
Club Stats. 939 members collectively rode 47912 km in 1429 rides, climbing 285492 metres in 2172 hours!
The number of members are up by 27 as compared to last week. The week saw everyone collectively ride more, with total distance, elevation gained and time spent on the saddle were all up. More than last week, but still lower than normal level. Excepted, considering the lockdown and pandemic raging across the country.
To be in the top 100, you needed to ride minimum 167 km during the week!
There were 3 who rode more than 100 a day!
31 riders rode at least a century!
12 who averaged above 30 kmph for the week. 10 climbed more than 4000 metres… Incredible riding by everyone.
Kudos to all the riders who have been working hard on their saddles…
Leaderboard: Overall
This leaderboard sees Sukhwinder Singh at the top for the fourth consecutive week. The top 3 were unchanged.
Sukhwinder Singh from Punjab was top of the charts. He rode an incredible 1628 km. He was first last three weeks as well.
In second place is Nishant Gupta from Maharashtra who rode 1221 km in the week. He was second last two weeks as well.
Third spot is taken by Rakesh Kumar Pawan from Bihar. He rode 716 km. He was third last week as well.
Leaderboard: Women
The women’s leaderboard lacked depth in the field again this week. The lockdown and pandemic regulations seems to have hit female riders harder.
Ragni Gedam from Maharashtra was top of the charts this week. Riding 316 km. She is 30th overall. She was top woman last two weeks.
Next up is Priyanka Mehta from Uttarakhand. Who rode an impressive 284 km. She is 38th overall.
Third is Blossom Fernandez from Karnataka who rode 188 km. She is 90th overall.
There are 3 women in the top 100 this week, same as last week.
Leaderboard: Longest Ride
The summer heat and lockdowns ensured that no one did long rides this week!
Top spot goes to Nishant Gupta from Maharashtra for the longest ride. He did a 160 km long ride! He was second last week.
Next up is Shiva Kumar Devan from Karnataka having done a 152 km long ride.
Third is Kamal Gola from Delhi, who did a 146 km long ride.
Leaderboard: Fastest
The top 12 have been riding at a seriously impressive pace.
Fastest of the lot is Samay D from USA who averaged an incredible 35 kmph over the week!
Second fastest for the week is Ashish Singh from Uttar Pradesh whose weekly average is a fantastic 34.7 kmph.
Third is Mayank Tripathi from Canada averaging 34.4 kmph over the week.

Himachal Pradesh dominated proceedings on this leaderboard…
Climber of the week is Gaurav Negi from Himachal Pradesh having climbed 8357 metres.
Second is Parvick Kukreja from Himachal Pradesh who climbed 7957 metres.
Third is Varun LK from Karnataka, who climbed 6436 metres during the week.
